When the Tap Stops, Fill a Pot Without Pulling on a Straw
A boil notice, a broken main or a long outage leaves a whole house with no water it can trust. A sip won't do. You need a pot for the stove and a bottle for each person. Fill the pouch, hang it up and let it run. Rated up to 1,800 gallons, with no pump and no power.

The pouch is what sold me. I can fill it from the rain barrel, squeeze a couple bottles full and hand them to my wife instead of us both standing there sipping.

Easy on the hands. I've got arthritis and I can manage it fine.

Large print, simple steps. I'm 70 and didn't need my son to show me.

Why the Tap Stops
The tap can stop with no warning. A main break, an ice storm or a long outage will do it.
City homes get water at the tap, and a boil notice telling you not to trust it.
- Asheville, NC: a 53-day water crisis after Helene (WUNC).
- Jackson, MS: more than seven weeks under a boil-water notice in 2022 (Fox Weather).
How It Works
- Gravity fill. Fill the pouch, screw the filter on and hang it up. Clip the hose to the mouthpiece and point it into a pot or bottle. Your hands are free.
- Share it. One person fills, everyone drinks. Pour it into each person's own bottle.
- Backflush. When the flow slows, fill the syringe with clean water and push it through the mouthpiece. The dirt comes out the bottom.
- Or just sip. The filter still works on its own as a straw.
Before first use: run water through it 3 to 5 times to prime it.
What It Removes, and What It Doesn't
It removes 99.99% of bacteria and protozoa through a 0.01 micron hollow-fiber membrane. That includes E. coli, Salmonella, Cholera, Giardia, Cryptosporidium and Legionella. It also blocks microplastics. The pouch and hose change how water gets through the filter, not what it filters.
It doesn't remove viruses, chemicals, heavy metals or salt. Boil or add tablets when viruses are a concern. Don't drink water you suspect is chemically contaminated.
Water from a flooded well or a ditch near a road can carry fuel. If you suspect it, don't drink it.
If You're on a Well
A well pump runs on electricity. When the power goes, the pump stops, and you're left with what's in the pressure tank.
Get water from a rain barrel, a pond or a stream, then fill the pouch and hang it up. Stay away from flood water and ditches by the road. If your well flooded, don't rely on this. Use stored water.
Storage and Care
It has no expiration date when stored dry. Keep it from freezing, and let it dry before you put it away.
It's rated up to 1,800 gallons, which is years of clean water from a single System. So you buy it once: one for the kitchen, and one for the car or go-bag. If you think a used filter froze, replace it.
Shipping
Standard shipping is $4.95 and Express is $9.95. Delivery times are on our Shipping and Returns page. Every order ships the next business day, tracked and insured.
Neither one beats a storm that's already on the forecast. That's the reason to order before you need it.

A sip isn't enough when you're running a house
A straw is great for one person. A house needs more: a pot for the stove, a bottle for each grandchild, water for someone who can't pull on a straw. CDC's figure is at least 1 gallon per person per day, and 2 weeks if you can. For a family of four, that's about 56 gallons. Nobody wants to haul that. This lets you fill containers from what's nearby, sit down and let it run.
Fill bottles for the whole house.
Straw or System? Here's the plain difference

One bad week, start to finish

The kitchen tap stops helping
Picture an ice storm at supper. In town, a boil notice goes out. On a well, the pump goes quiet. Either way, the kitchen tap won't help you.
You fill what you can
Any clean containers get filled. The bottled water goes first, and the store's aisle is already thin.
You get water from nearby
A rain barrel, a pond, a stream. Fill the pouch. Stay away from flood water and ditches by the road.
Hang it and walk away
Hang the pouch from a cabinet knob or a nail. Hose in the pot. Go see to the rest of the house.
Flow slows, you flush it
Push clean water through with the syringe. The dirt comes out and the flow comes back.
Dry it and put it away
Let it dry. Keep it from freezing. Then it's ready for next time.
Pour it in. Hang it up. Water for everyone.

Questions people ask
What comes with each System?
One filter, one squeeze pouch, one hose and one backflush syringe. A Family Pack means 5 complete sets.
My hands aren't what they were. Can I manage this?
Yes. Fill the pouch, hang it up, clip the hose on and point it into a pot or bottle. Gravity does the work. When one bottle's full, move to the next. There's no pulling on a straw. The first time, run water through it 3 to 5 times to prime it.
How do I know it really works?
It uses a 0.01 micron hollow-fiber membrane that removes 99.99% of bacteria and protozoa, including E. coli, Giardia and Cryptosporidium. It's tested to the rated figures. Buyers give it 4.8 stars across 864 reviews. And you can judge it yourself. Run water through it at home inside your 30 days.
Do I need the System, or is the Straw enough?
If you're one person with a go-bag, the Straw is enough. If you're running a household, don't want to pull on a straw or you're on a well, get the System. Many houses keep a System in the kitchen and Straws in the bags.
Does it remove viruses, chemicals or heavy metals?
No. It removes 99.99% of bacteria and protozoa. It doesn't remove viruses, chemicals, heavy metals or salt. Boil or add tablets when viruses are a concern. Don't drink water you suspect is chemically contaminated.
I'm on a well. Will it filter my well water?
If you can get the water out, it can go through the filter. If your well flooded, don't rely on this. Use stored water.
How do I backflush it?
Fill the syringe with clean water and push it through the mouthpiece. The dirt flushes out the bottom. Do it when the flow slows down.
How long does it last, and does it expire?
It's rated up to 1,800 gallons, which is years of clean water. It has no expiration date when stored dry. Keep it from freezing, and let it dry before you put it away. If you think a used filter froze, replace it.
We have stored water and a generator. Why add this?
Stored water runs out and a generator doesn't make water drinkable. At a gallon each, a family of four uses about a case a day. Keep what you've got. This is what you reach for after.
Is the Family Pack really worth it?
Yes, if you look after more than one place. One for the house, one for the car or bag, and one for each household you'd worry about. Five singles cost $199.95. The Family Pack of 5 is $106.99. That's $92.96 less, about $21 each. The Household Planner works out the rest. A package takes days, so the time to buy is before the notice.
Can I give one to my kids without looking crazy?
Yes. It's a water filter, not a doomsday statement. Most people understand a boil notice. Hand it over and say it goes under the sink.
Why not just buy one on a marketplace?
Compare if you like. Check the micron size, gallon rating and whether the listing tells you what it doesn't remove. Cheap look-alikes are a real problem. Buy here and you get the numbers on this page and the 30-day guarantee.
What if I don't like it?
Try it for 30 days. If you're not happy, email us and we'll refund you. Unused or used. Just email hello@minimls.com.

If it's more than just you, get this over the straw alone. Filling bottles beats passing a straw around.
Easy on the hands. I've got arthritis and I can manage it fine.
After a couple of dirty water tests the flow slowed down. Used the syringe, back to normal in a minute.
Our pump died in the last ice storm. Not again without a backup.
Works great but I'd treat the pouch gently. I carry it inside a zip bag just in case.
Fits in the kitchen drawer with room left over.
Large print, simple steps. I'm 70 and didn't need my son to show me.
One at home and one in the camper. Shipping took about 5 business days.
You can drink from a shallow spot with the hose without getting down on your knees. Not that I plan to.
Tested it on water from the ditch by the barn. Came out clear.
Filled four bottles in maybe 10 minutes. Slower than a tap but you're not in a hurry if the tap's dead.
Went back and forth between this and the straw. Glad I got this one.
Nice kit. Syringe seems like a small thing until you need it.
Our emergency committee bought 10. Everyone could figure it out in about five minutes at our meeting.
First time I got water everywhere. Second time was fine. Watch how you hold the pouch.
I live alone out in the county. It's one less thing to lie awake about.
Everything on the list was in the box.
He's got three little ones. I told him one's not enough, so I got him the Family Pack.
Rinse it, dry it, put it away.
Took 6 business days. No problems.
Not fast. Fast enough.
I don't want gadgets. This isn't one. No batteries is why I bought it.
Figured it'd feel cheap at the price. It doesn't.
Emailed about a missing carabiner and they sent one out, no fuss.
The only good time to buy is before.
When the tap stops, you want this already in the house.
